Club History

The Egham United Services Club was formed soon after WW1 on 19th October 1920 as a social club and also to provide support to returning servicemen, widows and orphans of that conflict. By early 1921 it found a home in a ‘tin shed’ located at 18 Limes Road which was the last building in that road in those days – The Crescent and Spring Rise hadn’t been built back then (see several photos of the old club below).

The club relocated to its present, purpose-built building in 1965 and has been constantly improved over the intervening years with improvements such as new lighting, carpets, upholstery and redecoration. During 2014 a new extension was constructed which allowed for the provision of much improved toilet facilities (plus disabled toilet facilities for the first time). These works also included an enlarged and improved kitchen area plus a new club office. During 2016 a new large screen HD TV was purchased to enhance the viewing experience of large sporting fixtures for our members. Also during 2016 the outside patio area was improved (many thanks to Alan Purvis). In 2019 a third TV was added to the snug’s existing screen to ensure that events were visible from all areas.
